Hey, I’m Marisa.

I like to talk and entertain. Sometimes I do both at the same time.

…and when that happens, I’m in my element.

see what I do

I’m good at yelling into mics

I’m good at (less aggressively) talking into mics

Sometimes, I do voiceovers

Occasionally, I write

I've been many things, and many titles, to many people. I am a friend, a daughter, a sister, a manager, an athlete of the year, a valedictorian, a class clown, a mentor, a caregiver, and perhaps most evident upon meeting me: an entertainer!

I have a Honours Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from York University, which has dramatically influenced the way I navigate social settings, think about relationships and show up in day-to-day interactions. The soft skills I've developed prompt me to lead life with empathy, curiosity and humour - and I’m proud of that! I might not remember a damn thing about Karl Marx, but I know when people need a laugh, or a conversation, and I'm always honoured to do that.

"it's okay to embarrass yourself in pursuit of human connection."

A sociology background alone didn't directly translate into a career path for me until I gained experience on a mic, gatewayed through the Broadcasting Radio program at Seneca College (now Seneca Polytechnic, but who's counting). One class guest speaker later, I fell into Radio Promotions at Corus Entertainment, and now at Sony Music Canada. Another guest speaker later, I fell - and I mean hard - into Public Address Announcing for all of Seneca's varsity sports teams. Five years later, I've had the privilege of announcing for the Ontario Basketball League, in addition to the OCAA and USports/OUA. I've covered everything from football to cross country to ice hockey (but basketball and volleyball are my favs, obviously). I write sports articles, conduct interviews and host events on the side for funsies!

Energy and professionalism are at the heart of everything I do.

I lead a busy but fulfilling life! My friends say that I’m the friend that's always down for a mission - whether that means a midnight food run or taking a mini road trip at the drop of a hat. I love to cook, having spent the first few years of my working life throwing it down in a tiny mom-and-pop Italian restaurant. I love playing sports, though I played more when I was younger (and more agile). Since I’m not as young or agile, I announce - because as the saying goes, “those who can’t do, yell (into a mic) at those who can”.
